6 August 2021

Wimbledon, the Euros, The Olympics, and a bruising Lions series – it’s been a superb summer of sports. With record breaking performances, trophies and medals in abundance and important questions raised around mental health, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what it takes to win.

Countless studies have shown the benefits of an active lifestyle. Nana Badu, Founder, Badu Sports & Badu Community, is on a mission to share his experience with sport as it is the one thing that helped him to understand his worth and gave him direction at a young age. Listen to his conversation with Michael, on how Sport can change your life and help you achieve your goals.

The sporting events of this summer have seen a growing number of athletes advocating for a better understanding of mental health. Simone Biles, Naomi Osaka and Adam Peaty have raised awareness of the challenges that elite performers face and the increasing realisation that sometimes, winning means taking a step back – not going for gold regardless of the cost. Listen to Living a life: make it happy not perfect, with Poppy Jamie, Founder of Happy Not Perfect; and Why mindset matters: make it positive, Renée Elliott, Founder of Planet Organic and Beluga Bean, for tips on how to train your brain to have a happier mindset.

Finally, getting active doesn’t have to mean exercise. Listen to Get active: the power to make a difference, with Paul Lindley OBE, Founder of Ella’s Kitchen, to hear about how to build activism into the workplace.
